Budd commended the law enforcement officers of Graham County, NC, for completing Operation Dirty Laundry, an 11-month undercover investigation that disrupted a criminal network involving drug trafficking and illegal gambling in Western North Carolina.

Budd was listed as a co-sponsor of S. 3392, a bill to direct the Secretary of Agriculture to designate an Agritourism Advisor.

Budd rose to speak in remembrance of the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Helene, recounting the storm's impact on North Carolina's Appalachian Mountains, the 108 lives lost, and examples of community resilience and individual acts of heroism during recovery efforts.

Budd co-submitted an amendment to S. 2296 intended to enhance protections against debt collector harassment of servicemembers by prohibiting certain threats and misrepresentations in debt collection communications.

Budd requested modification of the Senate's July 1 order to schedule a pro forma session on Monday, July 7 at 10:15 a.m. with no business to be conducted, and to move the Senate's reconvening to Tuesday, July 8.

Budd rose to recognize and commend law enforcement agencies in western North Carolina and South Carolina for their yearlong investigation into drug trafficking in Appalachia called Operation Uptown Funk, which resulted in the confiscation of more than $175,000 in illicit funds, 20 firearms, and 30 pounds of illegal drugs, and the arrest of more than 30 individuals.

Budd asked unanimous consent for the Senate to proceed to immediate consideration of S. 97, the Securing Semiconductor Supply Chains Act, which was then read a third time and passed.

Budd co-sponsored S. 1502, a bill to amend title 18, United States Code, to punish the distribution of fentanyl resulting in death as felony murder.

Budd spoke on the Senate floor about the fentanyl crisis in North Carolina, stating that nine North Carolinians die daily from fentanyl overdoses and attributing the problem to the Biden administration's open border policies.
