Sewell spoke in support of H.R. 842, the Nancy Gardner Sewell Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act, which she noted was named in honor of her mother who died of pancreatic cancer in 2021 and had become the most cosponsored bill in the 119th Congress with 339 House cosponsors and 68 Senate cosponsors.

Sewell introduced legislation to designate December 1 as a national Federal holiday commemorating the historic arrest of Rosa Parks.

Sewell rose to address the House for 5 minutes to welcome American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network patient advocates to Capitol Hill and to discuss legislation she is leading with Congressman Jodey Arrington called the Nancy Gardner Sewell Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act, which would create a pathway for Medicare to cover emerging blood tests for screening multiple cancer types once FDA approved.

Sewell addressed the House for 5 minutes to acknowledge Juneteenth and highlight 2025 Major League Baseball events in Birmingham, Alabama, including the East-West Classic game at Rickwood Field and the ribbon cutting of the newly refurbished Willie Mays Park in Fairfield, Alabama.
